About Me

I'm a writer living in the beautiful province of British Columbia in Canada. I have a first class honours degree in biology from Simon Fraser University and a professional teaching certificate from the BC Ministry of Education.

I have many years of experience in teaching high school biology, other sciences, and information technology. I primarily write about biology, nature, and the science of health and disease. I also write about other subjects, however, including British Columbia scenery and events.

In addition to exploring biology, nature, and science, I enjoy photography, reading, creative writing, music, and walking. I currently have two dogs and three cats in my family.

I have a Facebook writer page entitled Biology Alicia and am @AliciaSee on Twitter.

Some of My Favourite Biology and Nature Quotes

I'm fascinated by the idea that genetics is digital. A gene is a long string of coded letters, like computer information. Modern biology is becoming very much a branch of information technology. Richard Dawkins

Carl Sagan spoke fluently between biology and geology and astrophysics and physics. If you move fluently across those boundaries, you realize that science is everywhere; science is not something you can step around or sweep under the rug. Neil deGrasse Tyson

I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in. John Muir
